To drive value creation in the mining sector, curb the raw export of iron ore, and advance the country’s iron and steel industry, Gohar Farzanegan Kherameh Company began operations in 2017 as the mining sector arm of the Farzanegan Group. Its key shareholders include Farzanegan Fars Nikoo Company, Gol Gohar Industrial and Mining Company, and the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO).
The company’s primary mission is to design, construct, and operate a pelletizing plant with an annual capacity of 2.5 million tons in the Kherameh region of Fars Province. Beyond the pelletizing plant, development plans involve completing exploration in the Bahram Gur region, initiating extraction from iron ore mines to secure raw materials, establishing a sponge iron production facility with a capacity of 1.8 million tons per year, and building an iron concentrate production plant utilizing Bahram Gur’s iron ore resources.
The construction of the pelletizing plant, as the project’s first phase, has commenced and is slated for commissioning in 2023. In addition, exploration in the Bahram Gur area—estimated to hold approximately 5.9 million tons of iron ore—has partially been completed.
