Shetab Kar Company, with the trademark SKC, is the largest manufacturer of automotive steering systems in the country. It began its operations in the early 1980s under the name “Ductile Iron Casting Company,” aiming to produce cast iron parts. In 1996, the company changed its name to “Sapco 4” and expanded its product range by launching production lines for finger, type, and finger base components.
Recognizing the Iranian automotive industry’s need for strategic, specialized, and safety-related parts, the company renamed itself “Shetab Kar” and focused on producing components such as steering assemblies and connecting rods. Since 2010, the Farzanegan Fars Nikoo Group has held 100% ownership of Shetab Kar, implementing changes to its production lines to enhance domestic manufacturing of high-tech components in steering, connecting rods, and drive shafts, thereby establishing a significant position in the industry.
The company has continued its qualitative and quantitative development through investments and modernization of production lines, as well as the use of specialized and automatic CNC machinery. Today, it produces parts and assemblies for over ten different vehicle types to meet the needs of automotive companies like Iran Khodro and Saipa. In addition to supplying parts for domestic automotive production lines (OE), Shetab Kar’s products have gained a strong presence in the aftermarket (AM) due to their high quality and durability, receiving necessary approvals and standards from relevant authorities.
Alongside producing components for hydraulic steering systems, Shetab Kar has also been researching and developing Electric Power Steering (EPS) systems for the past six years to meet the needs of automakers in the country for this latest steering technology and to localize the knowledge of these systems. In 2019, the first sample of this system was produced at Shetab Kar, and after extensive performance and durability tests, it received approval for use in production lines. Currently, the company supplies electric steering systems for vehicles like the Peugeot 2008, Tara, and Dena.
Shetab Kar’s future plans include developing electric steering for vehicles such as Shahin and Quick, as well as localizing the supply chain for these systems’ components, in collaboration with its research and development and engineering units, as well as with research centers and global suppliers. Furthermore, with significant investment and partnerships with prominent foreign companies, Shetab Kar has added a complete production line for drive shafts (including machining and producing shaft heads) to its product range for the first time in the country. This initiative aims to reduce foreign currency expenditure and increase self-sufficiency by utilizing the capabilities of other companies in the Farzanegan Group, such as Alborz Forge, through the localization of these components.
Shetab Kar has invested in research and engineering, establishing the most advanced laboratory (certified by the Standards Organization) for testing various hydraulic and electric steering parts as well as durability and performance testing devices for steering assemblies. These devices have been designed and programmed to simulate different driving conditions under various weather temperatures in the country, ensuring the quality of the company’s products.
